"Do It tomorrow" by Mark Forster

This is a work-in-progress note rather than a completed blog post. Its content is not final and can be changed and updated over time.

I've recently been re-reading Do It Tomorrow and Other Secrets of Time Management by Mark Forster.

These are my notes:

  • Reactive brain (not intelligent) vs rational brain (intelligent).
  • Do it now or do it tomorrow.
  • What needs an immediate response?
  • What requires a same-day response?
  • What can be done tomorrow?
  • Open lists (to do lists) vs closed lists (checklists).
  • Do all the tasks every day.
  • If you do all the tasks, the order you do them in doesn't matter.
  • Resistance.
  • Do one thing at a time. Avoid context switching.
  • Work in short bursts to avoid procrastination.
  • What is the current initiative? What is the first thing you do every day?
  • Write a "Will do" list, not a "To do" list.
  • Take breaks, have a definitive finish time.
  • Continuous projects.
